As Director of Communications, Diane Godwin manages the Research and Curriculum Unit’s overall brand and image. She maintains her Accreditation in Public Relations with the Public Relations Society of America by staying current on the latest public relations technology, analytics, ethics, marketing and communication advancements through continuing education. She began her career as a television news reporter and documentary producer for a commercial station in Lincoln, Nebraska and ThinkTV sponsored by Wright State University, broadcast on the Public Broadcasting channel in Dayton, Ohio. Those experiences helped her land her first public relations job in higher education, which built her professional background for work in the corporate and nonprofit arenas. Along the way, Godwin has earned several state and regional awards. She has served on the board of directors for the Public Relations Association of Mississippi and the Southern Public Relations Regional Federation. Both organizations honored her with the Senior Public Relations Practitioner Award. Godwin volunteers on the Mississippi and Dixie National Quarter Horse Association Boards and recently was a board member for the Starkville Habitat for Humanity organization. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a master’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.
